Judy Apicella graduated Manhattanville College in Purchase, New York with a BFA (Bachelor
of Fine Arts). She carried a self designed double major of art and dance. One of her projects
combined a dance she choreographed with the dancers wearing masks she designed, while
images [of what?] were projected onto the walls.
After college Judy worked for the American Ballet Theatre with Mikhail Baryshnikov. She
traveled with the company to premieres and shows attended by, among others, Gene Kelly,
Donald O'Connor, and Goldie Hawn. Judy left the company to strike out on her own as a
dancer, appearing in several off-Broadway productions.
Judy's mother was a very spiritual person who passed when Judy was only 19. At this time
she experienced a deep connection with her mother. This influenced Judy to pursue a path
of spiritual healing, a journey that has continued for over 20 years; she has walked many
paths, and met many healers, each with unique methods and modalities. Judy became
acquainted with Reiki, hands on healing, crystal healing, animal healing, the use of herbs,
and various other healing and spiritual techniques. She is a certified [is that the right word?]
Reiki Healer.
Judy was living in an apartment in New York City, with her husband Salvatore and son Nico,
when they decided to move to the country. In 2006 they found the land they now call home.
Located in New Milford, CT on 50 acres of rolling hills, they felt immediately that this was
the place.
One day, as Judy pulled into their property, she found herself looking around, seeing it as if
for the first time. Suddenly Judy became aware of her late father's presence. She had the
feeling that he was guiding her to…what? After a time she was overcome with a strong
feeling. She thought to herself, "We're supposed to open a healing center". Feeling calm and
resolved, she told Salvatore, who said, "Yes we are". They began creating, with Salvatore
doing much of the designing and building. This has given Bhakti a rustic beauty that blends
and harmonizes with the surrounding environment.
Bhakti continues to this day as a work of the path that Judy has chosen to walk with
Salvatore and Nico. She sees it as a manifestation of her vision to heal through nature.
